We went to Mom and Dad’s for Christmas breakfast and family time.  Although none of my brothers were in town, all my sisters were (but Heidi, obviously) so it was a fun, busy morning.

Mom made bran muffins – they are scrumptious!

Fortunately, she has three ovens so while the muffins were in two the egg casseroles were in the other.  My Aunt Lina used to bring egg casserole over on Christmas morning until she passed away.  She’s been gone for 20 years or so, but her thoughtful tradition lives on.

Mom and Dad opened their presents while we were there.  I somehow missed a shot of Dad’s Christmas hat but did manage to get one of… Dad and Plaid! You will notice the plaid shirt currently being worn as well as the two plaid shirts freshly unwrapped next to him.  Mom seemed to like the pashmina I gave her.

I’m glad for the opportunity to spend holidays with the family.  It hasn’t always been possible due to distance/time constraints.  There is a feeling of continuity, of rightness about continued traditions and forging new ones.  Although we don’t always see eye to eye, sometimes feelings are hurt but whatever happens – family is family.

And… the cake shot from Marci’s birthday:

Her birthday is New Year’s Eve then Dad’s is January 2nd.  Although his birthday hat was finished on time, due to some car issues I wasn’t able to get down to Mom and Dad’s on the 2nd.  But… here’s his birthday blues

There’s still no word on whether or not I’m going to be hired soon. (or at all) It’s really starting to get to me.  There are decisions that must be made, plans that need implementation with direction.  And, I need my own insurance lol  A few of my friends have been hired, most haven’t though.  I’m grateful that my dear friend, Tiana, has been though – she deserves it for all the hard work she puts in and messes she fixes.  Since surprise baby is now on the way, she also really needs it.  I’m grateful she has it!

Maybe this coming week…… *fingers crossed*

And in other news…..  no more roomate!!!!  insert whatever version of happy dance you conjure up here!

It was nice to see that such a lot of you did manage to get to your mum and dad’s for Christmas. They do seem to be fond of plaid – any Scottish blood in you? Hoping that this coming year is a better one for you all. No room-mate, we say, Ya dancer – the highland fling of course.
