Writing about myself is not a favored activity. Writing about my point of view, observations, projects, and life in general is far more interesting. However…. here ya go….
I was born Holly (yes, I had a middle and a last name, still do for that matter.) There are two teens I am happy to have as my own. I’m the oldest of nine – 3 brothers, 5 sisters – one passed over summer 2009. My parents have been married for 50 years. Sadly, unless I live an unusually long life and for some reason choose to remarry, I shall never follow in their footsteps.
Random factoids:
First husband and father of said fantastic teens is still a good friend and now landlord .
I dislike the color orange.
I’m extraordinarily tactile. If I don’t like how something feels, I will NOT wear it, knit with it, good chance I won’t look at it.
I’m not a yarn snob. Can’t afford to be and… sometimes acrylic and acrylic blends work best. As in I refuse to knit sweaters for fast growing children with Lorna’s Laces no matter how much I love that stuff.
I dislike ball point pens. Favourite pens are fountain, followed by a variety of gel, roller ball, etc.
I’ve been known to work on cars in skirts and heels.
My hands feel off balance without long nails.
My favourite colour is lavendar going into the periwinkle phase.
I want to knit lace shawls.
I’m an avid family history buff. Ok, avid history buff.
I spent years and years going to university. Still haven’t graduated. I like to learn everything. I know next to nothing…. the universe is a large place.
I’m a Federal Constitutionalist, and Libertarian.
I like the tv volume low and the stereo volume high.
My closest friends range in age from 28 to 63.
I knit, I ride (enjoy riding anyway, don’t have one right now) Harleys. I enjoy museums, the opera, design of many varieties. I also crochet every now and again, am a rubber stamper, cross stitcher… again, there’s a pattern here. I firmly believe that expression through physical means is essential to well being – my own, at least.
I’ve spent years in the educational, travel, and web design then benefits management fields while home-schooling my youngest (D) for the second year. At his request! It’s the best adventure of my life time. He’s decided to get his GED and pursue his college education now. I’m a little mixed on it but… not a bad thing at all.
Here it is in an infinitesimal nutshell. I was born in Los Angeles, CA; lived there for 7 days, moved to Utah, moved to Virginia, moved back to Utah, moved to Kentucky, moved back to Utah, spent a little while in the Middle East, moved back to Utah, spent a longer while in the UK, back to Utah (seeing a pattern here?), moved to North Carolina. to Louisiana, back to North Carolina, back to Utah, back to the UK for a little bit, back to Utah, then moved to New Hampshire followed by West Texas, and back to Utah again. Perhaps you can understand why I hate hearing “Where are you from.”
My latest husband is the one who bestowed the nic RedFear and it stuck. It’s my main toon in World of Warcraft. I like it. I’m not afraid of red, I AM red. *said with large, somewhat cheeky smile*
